The goal of this project was to create a drink label for a cold brew coffee beverage named Black Hole Brew. The target demographic were those who are into science fiction as well as ‘retro’ art.
In the past few years there has been a big resurgence in throwback retro vibes — look at Stranger Things, which harkened back to 1980s aesthetics and themes. There has also been a huge interest in space. NASA and the general public have been captured by the thought of Mars, and billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are helping to fuel that interest, and will most likely continue to do so well into the future.
The demographics that are following and appreciating these phenomena are the same demographics that this drink label is targeting. Harkening back to mid century sci-fi serials, the design of Black Hole Brew aims to act as an homage as well as capitalize on the fascination with retro art and space that the public is currently showing.
